Birth of a Rose

A Jazz Ballet by Anthony Zator

Conceptualized, composed, and premiered in early 2009, Birth of a Rose sweeps up the senses in a modern odyssey that comes to life with a unique combination of modern dance and jazz. Performed by the Anthony Zator Quartet and nine dancers, this new jazz ballet recalls a story of struggle, passion, and acceptance within the realm of beauty, serenity, and alluring mystique.  Set in the botanic gardens, a drifting seed must find her place in an unknown world, discovering her true identity through a series of dances that include a tango in the “Tropical Garden,” a waltz in the “Japanese Garden” and many others!
