FRESH VISION...ENTICING PRESENTATION...ENGAGING AND ENLIGHTENING PROGRAMMING

THE MISSION of The Colorado Musicians Consortium is to conceive, create,

and produce high quality, innovative music programming in Colorado

by uniting a group of extraordinary artists and combining their resources.

The Colorado Musicians Consortium is a 501C3 non-profit founded in 2009 by a diverse group of gifted music professionals committed to creating innovative, enlightening music performances in Colorado. We develop and produce concerts of the highest caliber by inspiring and supporting the collaborations of remarkable artists and organizations.

We provide a wide range of exceptional music programs in metropolitan, rural, under-served and educational environments enriching and enhancing the cultural lives of Coloradans.

Our performances bring together elements from many artistic disciplines, musical styles and cultures—from Bach to Middle-eastern poetry, American roots music to modern dance—engaging, educating, transcending boundaries and transforming audiences and artists alike.

In its first year, The Colorado Musicians Consortium fully produced 14 concerts at venues across the front range; developed and produced 7 new concert projects including who are you, little i, a new chamber opera based on the poetry of e. e. cummings; Birth of a Rose, an original jazz ballet; Sand-Between-the-Toes, a children’s music concert using the verse of A. A. Milne; Southern Journey: Tribute to Alan Lomax bringing to life the music of the rural South; The Martyrdom of St. Bartholomew & the Frail Stag, a contemporary cantata & string quartet; and Back to Bach, a Bach-inspired chamber concert. We also recorded 2 CDs of our live concerts; Southern Journey and The Martyrdom of St. Bartholomew; and a studio recording of Birth of a Rose, Anthony Zator’s jazz ballet.

NEW PROJECTS FOR 2010

In The Bach Project, a concert program that reconnects Johann Sebastian Bach’s music with its folk roots by placing Bach’s music on folk instruments and presenting it adjacent to the traditional dance form repertoire that informs it, virtuoso musicians bridge the gap between the classical and folk music worlds.

In Standing on Fishes, mezzo-soprano Marta Burton gives voice to contemporary Colorado composers and classic poets, performing new settings of Rainer Maria Rilke, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Rumi, e. e. cummings and Mary Oliver.
